Christmas Hit List: Trans-Siberian Orchestra – “Carol Of The Bells”

Hi, Readers!

We are now just a week away from the big day! Even though I’m all but finished my shopping, I still have so many little errands I have to run. I’m making lists to make sure I have everything covered!

I thought that I needed a song with a bit of energy for today’s installment of the Christmas Hit List. There are a few songs that have more energy than the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s version of “Carol Of The Bells.” I have not had the pleasure of seeing them live, but one of my best friends has, and he says that they are phenomenal! This version of this classic Christmas songs is simply magical. I love this song so much that I used it in another post for my Christmas Hit List a few days ago.

I hope that the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s version of “Carol Of The Bells” gives you that extra push to get going and to help cross everything on your Christmas To-Do Lists, too!

Until my next post, Readers!

Remembrance Day. A Day to Give Thanks.

Hey Readers!

Remembrance Day has arrived. A day that we take a moment to reflect and give thanks to those who are fighting or have fought so that others could enjoy peace.

Even though today is suppose to be a more somber day, I like to keep things a little brighter around here on my blog.  Last year, I shared a video of children’s choir singing their appreciation for the day (since this choir is American, so it was Veteran’s Day for them), so this year, I wanted to share messages of thanks from the Calgary Girls’ School in Calgary, AB to the Canadian troops and volunteers for their past and present service to Canada. It is great to see that children have not lost the ability to appreciate what others have done for them.

I hope that this post helps to make the day a bit brighter for you today!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Guns N’ Roses – “Sweet Child O’ Mine”

Mornin’ Readers!

After a fun and relaxing weekend, it is beginning to turn into a busy start to this work week. I have posts to touch up, Christmas to finish planning (yes, I like to get planning for this holiday sorted early so I can get everything done on time), and a snuffly, grumpy “boss” to look after, especially since he is not a morning person.

So what song to I have in mind to get me super-charged on a fantastic day like today? I decided to have GNR help me out this morning with “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” It’s fun, it made me pick up a pen and start singing to my computer screen, and it even got the nod of approval from both bosses as they were rockin’ out with me on our air guitars.  Any song that can make them happy must be great for an MMMM pick!

I hope that “Sweet Child o’ Mine” gets you smiling and in a good mood on this mundane Monday morning!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Halloween Video Picks, 2014

Halloooooooooooooooooo Readers!

It’s the big day! Halloween is upon us, and we love celebrating this day of spookiness in my family.  One way we like to get into the spirit of things (take that one as you will) is by listening to music while we decorate our home and porch as well as suiting up to go trick-or-treating or greeting kids who visit our home.

Last year, I posted a list of songs that I thought would get you into the Halloween mood.  This year, I thought I would compile a new short list of songs so you can have even more music to listen to while having fun today.

I thought I’d start off this year’s list with something a little fun and cute.  Enter The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack’s – “This is Halloween.” This is a family favourite at our house, and we watch this movie every year around Halloween, and Christmas for that matter!

Then I decided to get a little bit darker, so I decided to have Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” next in this compilation. I love this song, and it’s perfect for rocking out to on a day like today.

Moving back to something a little more lighthearted but still in the theme of Halloween, here is Michael Jackson’s “Ghost.” I couldn’t put “Thriller” on this list, as it was on last year’s list, but let me tell you, I was ever so tempted to do.  Since I’m an MJ fan, one of his songs had to be included.

Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil” may not be a very spooky, but the lyrics are brilliant, telling of the of the events in history that, for the purpose of this song, were the doing of the Devil himself.  Since this version is my favourite (and the original), I could not leave it off of my list this year!

Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition?” Why is it on my list? Well, because the song is about superstitions, which also have a loose tie into Halloween. That, and I love this song!  😛

I thought that Iron Maiden’s” Fear Of The Dark” would be the perfect way to end this year’s list.  This song brings all of those creepy and eerie feelings people have about the dark, and make you think twice about what you see and hear at the night when you’re alone.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my short list of Halloween videos for this year, Readers! Hopefully, you will enjoy the day, and look out for those things that go bump in the night!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Usher and Alicia Keys – My Boo

Morning Readers!

It’s a gorgeous Monday morning, but it was one of those mornings where I felt like I got run over by a truck! To add insult to injury, one of my “bosses,” the VP of Cuteness thinks she is a rooster and thinks that it is suitable for everyone to be up before the crack of dawn with her.  Let’s just say that this Monday morning has started off swimmingly!  ;P

It also took the gears in my head a LONG time to get moving, so it took even longer for me to choose a song for this week’s installment of MMMM. After a lot of deliberating, this week’s pick literally popped into my head. I went back to songs that brought back good feelings and memories for me, and then one of them brought the sun out for me and helped me decided on this week’s song.  It is “My Boo” by Usher and Alicia Keys.

I know, it’s a far departure from last week’s pick, but I don’t like to stay in one genre of music for too long.  This song made me think about some very good times during my late teen and early adult years, and it is upbeat without being goofy and in the mood to clack away on the keyboard for a few hours today. Besides, Alicia Key’s outfit at the end of this video is gorgeous, especially the wedge heels she’s wearing! I’m in love with them, even though this video is about ten years old.

I hope that “My Boo” brings back good memories for you, and that it makes this mundane Monday morning a little brighter for you, too!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Radiohead – 15 Step (Scotch Mist Version)

Morning Readers!

It’s so hard for me to sit still and type this morning!  I had a VERY late start to my day after being a woken an hour early. My “bosses” have been all over me to get moving, and I, eventually, took their advice to get to my desk.

This morning I decided to go with one of the few bands that my other half and I actually agree on: Radiohead. I thought it was time to finally go with one of their songs. For Radiohead fans and lovers of Twilight, I chose “15 Steps.” Today was a perfect morning for this pick! It has such a different energy than most of the other MMMM picks I have chosen before, and something different was definitely needed today! The beat for this song is so infectious and makes me want to move along with it.  I also feel as though I’m being taken along for a journey when I hear this song. A bit of an escape through music is always a good thing. I’m up now, and I’mw anting to get some work accomplished!

I hope that “15 Step” does the trick for you on this mundane Monday morning!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Dido – Thank You

Happy Thanksgiving?Columbus Day Morning, Readers!

It’s a gorgeous (looking) long weekend morning here, and, for once, we are taking things a little bit slower than usual.  It’s rare when we take things easy at home, so my other half and I are going to savour every bit of this last long weekend (for us Canadians) until Christmas as much as we can!

As per my tradition for this feature, I’m also slowing down the beat for my MMMM pick this week.  This week’s pick is “Thank You” by Dido. I know this song is not exactly about what most people would give thanks for, but I’m the type of person who thanks people for what they’ve done for me.  Some people may find this act as being disingenuous, but I think that people should hear how you have touched their life and have made it better, so maybe this is not such a bad pick for today, huh!

I hope that “Thank You” helps you to relax and reflect on this non-working  mundane Monday morning!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Britney Spears – Toxic

Mornin’ Readers!

Well, it’s October! You can really see the change in the seasons today.  It is darker and colder this morning, and the leaves are everywhere! It’s gorgeous, but it is also a sing of things to come: Winter (Brrrrrrr!)

Since it is a colder day today, I really needed a song that would actually get my pulse going.  I reached into my archives for this week’s MMMM pick because this song always does the trick for me. This week’s pick is “Toxic” by Britney Spears.  I. Love. This. Song! It is such a fun, cheeky and catchy song that holds no punches back. The first verse makes me smile because Britney Spears is sharing her feelings so blatantly, yet (in the song) she’s still smitten. Here they are (thanks to A-Z Lyrics.com):

Baby, can’t you see
I’m calling
A guy like you
Should wear a warning
It’s dangerous
I’m fallin’

I also enjoy seeing Tyrese Gibson for a bit of this video also takes the blurriness out of my eyes first thing in the morning!

I hope that “Toxic” gets you revved up and your blood going on this mundane Monday morning!

Mundane Monda Morning Music: Lauryn Hill – Doo-Wop (That Thing)

Hey Readers!

It’s Monday morning, and the cobwebs have still not left my eyes yet.  As the days are getting shorter, it is also taking longer for the sun to pop up in the sky, encouraging me to turn around and go back to bed.

I was really stuck as to which song I should pick this week for my MMMM feature. I then started racking my brain (as slow as it is this early in the morning), and I thought about a “music appreciation” lesson my daughter and I had to have about Lauryn Hill as she has never heard of her.  I was shocked that she didn’t know she was. Then my MMMM pick came to my head: “Doo-Wop (That Thing).” It’s such a great song to wake up to, and she is such a great singer! I love the split screens of 1967 and 1998. The fashion between then and now also got my mind whirling, as I love fashion (as you can see by my Fashion Closet section of my blog)!  After listening to it, I became more awake and ready to take on the day and this lovely work week.

I  hope that “Doo-Wop (That Thing)” gets you in a good mood this morning, and carries you well into October.

Until my next post, Readers!
