Survivor: Philippines, Season #25 Finale – Sometimes Scrapping It Out Does Pay Off!

It’s another Finale Night on Survivor: Philippines.  I have been anxiously awaiting the end of this season because I am surprised about who the Final Four Castaway are.  After her breakdown, Lisa has pulled it together and not many people knew she was Blair from The Facts of Life.  Skulpin, targeted because he was one of the three returning players, managed (with some help and some Challenge wins) to skirt through Tribal Councils to make it this far.  Malcolm, besides the fact that he was one of the most dominating people throughout this season, had to still manouever his way out of some sticky spots to get to this point.  Last, but certainly not least, Denise used her social capabilities to scrap her way through three tribes without being voted out to have the chance to be so close to the end of the game.  What will Jeff Probst have in store for the remaining Castaways? Let’s dive right in to see who will be one million dollars richer!

After getting rid of Abi during the last Tribal Council, the rest of the tribe celebrated her exit.  Once that was taken care of, the real work of solidifying a Final Three deal had begun. Everyone was scrambling, talking about what deals they had with other Castaways for the end of the game, as well as their chances were of winning.

The Castaways received Tree Mail. It contained a clue as to what their final Immunity Challenge would entail. Denise was worried about her chances of making through the final Tribal Council because she is now the outcast out of those players remaining in the game.

At the final Reward Challenge, the Castaways had to race through an obstacle course to retrieve three bags of puzzle pieces. The first to complete the puzzle won a HUGE advantage in the final Immunity Challenge. Once, again, it was a close match between Malcolm and Denise, but, as usual, Malcolm came out the victor!

It was more shop talk once everyone got back to Dangrayne. Lisa and Denise were especially talking about how dangerous it would be to keep Malcolm as one of the Final Three, and, if he doesn’t win the final Immunity Challenge, that it should be him that gets voted out. Lisa later admitted she was happy Denise would be willing to cut Malcolm loose, knowing that the alliance between Denise and Malcolm may be over. Denise was scrapping away, trying to work her magic on Skulpin as well, hoping to change his mind as well. Lisa and Skulpin were unsure who to take with them because of the options that laid in front of them.

More Tree Mail was sent to the Dangrayne tribe. It told them that they were going on the Fallen Comrades Walk before the final Immunity Challenge. This is where the final contestants follow a path with the posts which once held the fire of the Castaways who had been voted out, or had to leave the game because of illness or injury. The gang reminisced about each person, then burnt these posts at a bonfire set up for them at the end of the Walk.

At the final Immunity Challenge, the players had to balance a ball on a piece of wood that had a groove carved into it. After five minute intervals, the Castaways had to then attach more pieces to each side to lengthen their pieces of wood, making it harder to balance the ball at the center. The last player to have their ball on their piece of wood would win the last Immunity Challenge, guaranteeing their spot in the Final Three. The advantage that Malcolm won was if he dropped his ball at any point during the Challenge, he would be able to have a second chance and continue at the round where he had dropped the ball.

Everyone did well until the Round Two. Malcolm, the king of Immunity Challenges was the first to drop his ball. A few moments later, Malcolm dropped the ball again! Yeah, it was a shocker! Everyone was surprised, and Malcolm was devastated. After a few more rounds, Skulpin came out the big winner. He was the only one with a smile on his face as the tribe left Jeff Probst to figure out who would be the last Castaway voted out of the game.

Both Malcolm and Denise were working hard to make their case to Lisa and Skulpin as to why they should be taken to the Final Three. Lisa and Skulpin were split on their decision. Skulpin wanted to take the best to the end, but Lisa wanted to bring those who she thought she could beat in front of the Jury.

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst and the Castaways spoke about the importance of the strength of an alliance. Denise and Malcolm knew they had to break their alliance at some point, and Lisa and Skulpin always wanted to stick together. They also spoke about whether the players were basing their vote on favours or strategy. Skulpin was partial to the favour Malcolm did for him when Malcolm allowed for Skulpin’s relative to join them at their camp. Lisa was partial to the strategy by getting rid of the best in order to win.

It was then time for the vote. After each Castaway made their decision, Jeff Probst counted the votes and announced that Malcolm would be the last Castaway voted out of the game, joining the other Jury members to hear the pleas of the Final Three.

The Final Three celebrated their last day in The Philippines with a super deluxe breakfast left for.them at Tree Mail. They then secretly confessed why they deserved to win the million.

At the final Tribal Council, the Final Three were on pins and needles, worried about who the Jury was going to vote for to win Survivor.. Denise explained how she had to use her social skills to make it through each tribe she was a part of in order to make it this far in the game. Lisa told the Jury she had to adjust to different situations and trust her gut to make it to the end. Skulpin explained to the Jury the reason why he deserved to win the game because he was the only remaining returning player left when he was constantly being targeted throughout the game because this was his second time playing the game.

Not surprisingly, the Jury was bitter towards the Final Three. Jonathan was particularly vocal in his address to the Final Three. He even revealed Lisa’s past fame to the Jury. No one really looked as though they cared, though. Most of the rest of the Jury yelled and belittled the last Castaways in the game. Even though they envied the Final Three, each member cast their vote as to who they wanted to win.

Jeff Probst then took the votes and the locale changed from their Tribal Council hut in The Philippines to the CBS Studios in Los Angles. He reveled one vote that was cast for each of the Final Three members before showing the rest of the Jury had chosen the Survivor: Philippines winner was…..Denise! I was so happy for her. Out of the last three players in the game, Denise did have to work the hardest to stay in the game, having to rely on her social skills to scrap her way throughout the game.

It’s the end of another season of Survivor, Readers! What still boggles my mind is how some people competing on these reality shows don’t get that players will lie and betray other players in order to win. If they are aware that players will do this to win, why are they surprised when these actions cause for them to leave the game? Maybe it is because they thought they would be able to see through the lies, yet they were not able to do so. The next season will be another Fan vs Favourites season. I can’t wait to see who the fans have voted to bring back to the game. Maybe it will be a showdown between Malcolm and Ozzy? I hope so!

Survivor: Philippines, Episode #13 – You Are Not the Mastermind You Think You Are!

The Survivor: Philippines Finale is fast approaching!  One more episode will determine who will be named the Sole Survivor for this season.  At the end of the last episode, Abi was able to slither through another Tribal Council by telling her tribe mates she had found the other Immunity Idol, and that she would use it to save herself.  When the time came for her to use it at Tribal Council, she didn’t pull it out, making the other Castaways even more upset with her. This caused Carter’s Survivor experience to come to a close.  Will Abi’s “clever” rouse carry her through yet another Tribal Council, or will the other Castaways see through her deception and vote her out of the game? Read on and you will see!

After Tribal Council, Abi was not sure if the rest of Dangrayne still belived she had an Immunity Idol. Malcolm was worried about his chances of making it to the Final Three because of Lisa’s comments about wanting to go to the end with people she felt she could beat. He felt he would be able to win more of the Jury’s votes over Lisa, so he was just hoping she would stick to her word and follow the plan.

Abi made an excuse for herself in order to look the Idol she supposedly had in her possession. She also realized she had to destroy the alliance between Malcolm and Denise if she had a shot at reaching the end because of how dangerous the two of them were together for anyone else in the tribe.

Even though she didn’t believe what Abi was telling her, Lisa was still comptemplating whether she should take Abi to the end of the game, or to stay true to her alliance.

At the Rewards Challenge, the Castaways had to grab two bundles of rings after going through an obsticle course. They then had to toss the rings onto separate posts. The winner would win a helicopter ride to a boat waiting for them with pizza and pop and whale watching. Malcolm screwed up, allowing Skupin to have a huge lead. Not surprisingly, Malcolm made up a lot of time, and was going head-to-head with Skupin. It was not enough, though, as Skupin landed the last ring on the post, guaranteeing his Reward Challenge win. He then chose to bring Malcolm and Lisa along to enjoy his victory, leaving Denise to have to deal with a very upset Abi by herself at camp.

The next morning, Denise woke up in a lot of pain, finding strange bite marks on her neck. She was worried about it affecting her ability at the Immunity Challenge. While the rest of the tribe was praying for her recovery, Abi was hoping this “setback” would get the rest of the tribe to vote her out, making Abi’s road to the end of the game all that much easier.

For the Immunity Challenge, the contestants had to use planks to assist them across a rope bridge, then they had to assemble a puzzle maze and guide a ball through it in order to win Immunity. Malcolm fell off the bridge early in the Challenge, putting him at the back of the pack. Denise had the lead, putting the pieces of her puzzle together quickly, but out of the blue, Malcolm came from behind, got his ball through the maze, and won Immunity.

A devestated Abi was still trying to convince Lisa and Skulpin to break their alliance and take her to the Final Three. Skulpin and Lisa were considering all of their options, because the wrong choice could result in them not winning the million dollar prize.

Thinking of how to keep her own Survivor life alive, Denise asked her partner in crime, Malcolm, if he was going to give her his Idol to save her from being voted out at Tribal Council. Malcolm told her she didn’t need it becuase of their alliance deal with Lisa and Skulpin. I think Malcolm wanted to hold all of the power when they were at Tribal Council, and if Denise got voted out, it would be one less strong person to beat in front of the Jury.

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst and the Castaways talked about Malcolm winning the Immunity Necklace, as well as Abi and her scrambling to break up the Final Four alliance she up against. Abi kept telling her tribe mates to keep her to the end because there was no way anyone would vote for her due to the fact that she was so hated by most of the Jury. She also spoke against keeping Denise because she was a threat where Abi was not one. She warned the rest of the tribe if she was to leave, that Lisa and Skulpin would not win the game.

While Jeff asked Skulpin how he was voting, Abi decided to use her “social skills” to change Skulpin’s mind about his vote by calling him stupid and a moron if he votes her out. Malcolm commented that Abi’s actions could actually be her game plan. Being hated and obnoxious is not as bad as having most of the Jury’s blood on your hands in Survivor..

The votes were tallied up. Surprise, surprise! Abi was voted out of the game (it was a 3-1 vote for her to leave). The “mastermind’s” plan had blown up in her face. Welcome to the Jury, Abi!

Now there are only two Tandang members against two members of Matsing. The intersting part of this Final showdown is that there are two members of a tribe that was dismantled and put on other tribes still battling it out to be the Sole Survivor. If I were Lisa and Skulpin, I would be worried about how this would play out in font of the Jury. To still be the game after being shuffled around from tribe to tribe speaks volumes about one of the most important components of winning Survivor: having a great social game. Denise and Malcolm both have this in spades, and if any of these two make it to the Final Three, Lisa and Skulpin may have just kissed one million dollars goodbye.

I can’t wait for the season finale in order to find out who wins it all! My money is in either Malcolm or Denise to win. Lisa and Skulpin may have make some good moves in the game, but they have also been brought along for most of it as well by those on the Jury. Who do you think will win this season of Survivor? Survivor: Philippines, Episode #12 – Luck Be a Lady!

Oh, what an episode this was! Throughout this season, the people you’d think would have been voted out of the game have either gained Immunity, or were spared as a result of another being sacrificed.If you read my previous post, Abi was lucky enough to have an Immunity Idol to save her butt.  Now she has to fend for herself to stay alive in the game.  Will Luck smile down on Abi again during this episode, or will she be shown the door?  Read on, and you’ll see!

After the last Tribal Council, Abi was in damage control mode, apologizing to everyone, especially Lisa, for her behaviour and her lack of tack.  No one was buying what she was trying to sell.  The Castaways also found a box with five hundred dollars for each person in it.  Survivor fans would know what this means…it’s Survivor Auction time!

Yes, Readers, the Reward Challenge for this episode was this season’s Survivor Auction.  For you Readers who are not familiar with the Auction, this is what happens: Jeff Probst will display a number of prizes for the Castaways to hid on with the five hundred dollars they were given.  Some things were visible (or described), while others were covered.  The Castaways also didn’t know when the Auction would end, nor could they keep any of the money, so they were encouraged to use it when they wanted something. The Castaways bought plates of pancakes, sub sandwiches, and even the opportunity to give up what they were bidding on to trade it for something the tribe could use. The most notable prize to bid on was to gain a huge advantage at the next Immunity Challenge. Abi snatched up that prize, hoping it would help her stay in the game longer.

Back at Dangrayne, Abi began shooting her mouth off, again! Really?! Does she ever learn? Abi has to realize that, regardless of your place in the game, you shouldn’t burn any bridges just in case you need to cross over one of them in the future. Jonathan tried advising her about her bluntness, but Abi brushed him off. Jonathan later admitted that Abi was annoying and obnoxious; he couldn’t wait to get rid of her. Abi also thought her tribe mates would change their tune and want to work with her because they wanted to reap the rewards of whatever advantage she was going to gain.

Abi then separated herself from the rest of her tribe to read what her advantage was for the next Immunity Challenge. Her advantage was that she would be able to go straight to the final round of the Immunity Challenge. There was an extra tidbit in her prize. It was a clue to where the next Immunity Idol was hidden. Abi then went in search of this new Immunity Idol, but with no success. With one “golden ticket” out of her reach for the moment, she had to bank on her advantage at the next Challenge to allow her to win Immunity.

At the Immunity Challenge, Abi read what her advantage was o the rest of her tribe, but made a point not to share the rest, and ceremoniuosly, ripped up the piece of paper it was written on. The other Castaways had to get themselves through a course where they were attached to a rope (this has happened a lot this season) that was tied around a beam for the First Round. The top five went through to compete for Immunity. In Round Two, the contestants were also attached to rope, but had to go through a jungle gym of poles. The top two joined Abi in the Final Round. That Round, the Castaways had to untie knots of rope while climbing through a tower. Most of the tribe had their fingers and toes crossed that Abi would screw this Challenge up. Abi whipped out her four-leaf clover, beating her other competitors and gaining Immunity from the night’s vote.

Back at camp, the rest of the tribe were quaking in their boots about their safety in the game. Malcolm was looking to get rid of Jonathan since he couldn’t do the same to Abi. He relayed his wishes to Lisa, who didn’t like the idea, but agreed to go through with it.

Feeling the guilt of the plan she was about to follow, Lisa, in a stupid move, went straight to Jonathan and let him in on the plan. Jonathan was flabbergasted that he may be on the chopping block, and began to work Lisa to find out whether it was Malcom’s wish to get rid of him. He also asked her why she was following Malcolm’s lead. She explained it was because Jonathan didn’t want to lock down a Final Four deal with her and Skulpin.

With his Survivir life on the line, Jonathan was scrambling to make Denise the new target to be voted out. He told Carter to vote for her, and tried to get Skulpin to change his mind in order to stay. Skulpin had qualms with getting rid of Jonathan, as well as loosing Jury votes, and considered following suit.

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst and the Castaways about Abi’s change of luck. The other tribe members were not worried about this change of events. Jonathan then expressed his anger over Lisa and Skulpin possibly voting for him, but he also pleaded with him for some more time in the game. Once all the votes were counted, Jeff Probst annnounced that the next Castaway to be leaving the gqme was indeed Jonathan. Oh, all of his hard work just went down the drain!

Well would you look at that, Readers, the game has been turned on it head once again! Abi was sooooooo lucky that Luck was her side to extend her life in the game. Oh well, Jonathan! Now there is one less schemer in the game for the Casaways to have to worry about. As there are so few players left in the game, who will be one to rid the tribe of Annoying Abi? Will she save herself yet again, or will the rest o the tribe’s dream come true, and she’ll be the next to leave? Read my next Survivor post to find out!

Survivor: Philippines, Episode #11 – From Top Dog to Voted Out.

The fortunes of the Castaways are so uncertain this season on Survivor: Philippines.  Just when you think you are on top of the world, someone pulls the rug out from under you, and you find yourself powerless, with Jeff probst snuffing your forch as your time in the game has come to a close.  This happened to one of the Castaways by the end of this episode.  Read on to see which one it was.

Abi and Pete were shell-shocked over what happened at the last Tribal Council. They didn’t expect Lisa and Skupin to side with the Kalabaw Four, blindsiding them and sending Artis home.  Abi, in her forcefull manner let Lisa know how upset she was with her and Skupin for jumping ship, believing that no matter how badly the rest of the Tandang alliance had treated the two of them, that they would remain loyal. Lisa let Abi know that she and Skupin didn’t like the way they were being treated, and they had moved on.

At the Reward Challenge, the Castaways were split into two teams. Each team member had to race to flip their three drum heads before the persn from the other team. Best of five rounds won the Challenge. The winning team would win a spa lunch which included a bath, massage, and lunch on a secluded beach. The two teams were:

Red Yellow
Abi Denise
Carter Lisa
Malcolm Skulpin
Pete Jonathan

It was a nail-bitter, but Skulpin flipped over the wrong drum head during the last round, giving the Red Team the win.

Once all of the winners were sipping on a drink, Malcolm asked not to have any strategy talk during their Reward. The rest of his temporary teammates agreed and soaked up every moment of the pampering they were receiving. Malcolm really wanted no game talk because all of the people he really wanted to work with were back at camp.

Back at camp, the remainder of the Tribe was working when they saw the return of the Reward winners. When asked how the Reward was, everyone said it was good and didn’t embelish. Everyone, except Big-Mouth Abi. She went on and on about what she experienced. Was this the smartest of moves to have made, considering her new spot on the Dangrayne totem pole? Just about everyone ini the Tribe was gunning for her to be the next to leave because of her gruff and aggressive attitude. Abi heard their conversation, and loudly said that she knew she was leaving soon, so it didn’t matter how she acted towards the rest of the Castaways.

Malcolm was keeping his eye on the prize by putting together his Final Four team. He and Denise went to Lisa and Skulpin and to see if they wanted to band together against the rest of the tribe. Lisa and Skulpin wanted to keep their options open until they spoke to Jonathan and Carter. When Lisa brought up the idea of a Final Four to Jonathan, Jonathan tuned her down, saying it was too early to make a move like this. This set off alarm bells with Lisa, and she thought Jonathan had passed up an opportunity. Lisa and Skulpin then went back to Malcolm and Denise, and solidified their Finak Four alliance.

This episode’s Immunity Challenge took place in three rounds. In the first round, the Castaways had to move a buoy through a tangled rope on a post. The top five moved on to Round Two, where they had to move a buoy across a beam. The top three when on to the Final Round, where they had to move a buoy around an obsticle course that stretched from the beach to boats out in the ocean. After all of the courses were done, Carter found himself the winner of the Immunity Challenge.

Back at camp, Abi and Pete saw the predicament they could be in if the two of them didn’t start hustling. They came up with the plan that they would offer the other Castaways an alliance deal and vote Malcolm out by blindsiding him so he wouldn’t use his Immunity Idol. They knew the remainder of the votes would be split between the two of them, and that Pete would go home because Abi would use the Idol they found many moons ago at the old Tandang camp. If they could just get one person to flip their vote to Malcolm, then the two of them would live longer in the game. Well, they planted the seed into the heads of the other Castaways, hoping that it would grow to fruitition later on that evening.

At Tribal Council, Malcolm revelled that he had heard about Abi and Pete’s plan to get rid of him, and he knew he was a threat to other players in the game because of his physical ability around camp and at Challenges, as well as his own Idol in his pocket. Others admitted that Abi and Pete’s plan was tempting because of the reasons Malcolm previous gave.

Pete and Abi also admitted to not like going from a position of power to be at the bottom of the totem poll. Abi also said she regretted how she acted s of late around camp, blaming her lack of a grasp for the English language, as well as her culture, describing it as being harsh and fiesty when she was trying to get something across to people.

Denise, not swayed by Abi’s pleas for understanding, brought up the fact that she wouldn’t want to take someone like Abi (you know, dead weight), to the end with her because she didn’t want to win the game by default. She wanted a stronger player with her at the end. Abi was offended by being deemed dead weight, and didn’t understand why everyone hated her so much.

Before revelling the results of the vote, Jeff Probst asked if anyone wanted to use their Idol to save themselves from being voted out. Abi prompting gave Jeff hers. Once all of Abi’s votes were taken out of the equation, the vote was 3-2 for Pete to say goodbye to his chances at the $1 000 000 Survivor grand prize, and leaving Abi to fend for herself.

Well, Readers, it just goes to show you how important your social game is in Survivor. Pete just had his butt handed to him because he and Abi treated Lisa and Skulpin so horribly. Will Abi be the next to voted out because of her lack of filtering herself, or will she be able to pull it together? Will Malcolm’s Final Four alliance stay true to each other through the next few votes at Tribal Council? These questions and much more will be answered in my next posts on Survivor: Philippines.

Survivor: Philippines, Episode #10 – Should We Stay or Should We Go?

The last eposode was a shocker, wasn’t it?  Well, that happens sometimes when a player makes a big move in the game.  It slapped Lisa in the face big time!  She was already sort of an outcast within the Tandang tribe, but will this move bring her and Skupin closer to their tribe, or will it shatter their alliance within Dangrayne?  Read on, and you’ll see.

After Tribal Council, Jonathan was upset that Jeff was no longer in the game.  He was also mifted that he was out of the loop about the big moves both Lisa and other people were making to get rid of returning players.  He so has to find a way to loose the target on his back.

Jonathan thought he found a way to break apart the Tandang alliance, and it was through their “weakest” links – Lisa and Skulpin.  He figured if he could work over Lisa and Skulpin to ditch the Tandang alliance, he could extend his safety a little longer.  He was able to have a moment with Lisa after they had a heart-to-heart.  Lisa was a little weary about Jonathan’s motives, but was also happy someone was able to understand where she was coming from.  She didn’t receive any of this kind of kindness from most of her alliance.

The Reward Challenge was a messy one! The tribe had to divide themselves into teams of two.  Abi was the lone person out, deeming her uneligible to win the Reward.  Each team had to collect four bags wih three balls out of a mud pit, then go through some obstacles.  Then all members had to get all twelve balls into a narrow hoop with a tube attached to it to collect the balls.  The winning team would get to go on a giving and receiving experience.  They would go to a village with school supplies and toys fir the children, then have a feast and downtime with the villagers.  This was the breakdown of the teams:

Red – Pete, Artis, Lisa and Skupin
Yellow – Jonathan, Denise, Malcolm and Carter.

Jonathan’s idea to find all of the bags for his team may have cost time on his leg of the challenge, but it paid off, allowing for the rest of his team to fly through the course and win Reward.  They went to the village, had fun with the villagers, and even had time to talk strategy.

While the winning team was at their experience, the loosing team was sulking back at camp.  Pete confessed that their alliance had to stay intact in order to go further in this game.  He was worried about this because of how the last Tribal Council played out, as well as how they had treated Lisa and Skulpin throughout their time in the Philippines.

Abi wasn’t helping to solidify their alliance by chewing Lisa out about her performance at the Reward Challenge.  Artis couldn’t stand Abi, saying that she thought she was a know-it-all about this game, and that she should keep her mouth and her emotions in check sometimes.  He knew her behaviour could push Lisa and Skulpin away to the other side.

Artis must have been reading Lisa mind, because she was thinking those same thoughts.  She was torn because she wanted for her and Skulpin to not be constantly stepped on by the rest of their alliance, yet she also didn’t want for her speech on the importance of loyalty to your alliance to come back and haunt her if she were to betray them, either.

At the Immunity Challenge, each of the Castaways had to place and then balance six balls on a ridculously large paddle one at a time. The first to accomplish this would win Individual Immunity. It was a horse race between Skulpin and Pete, but Skulpin came out victorious, saving his bacon from the frying pan.

Back at Dangrayne, the scrambling was rampant. The Kalabaw Four were wringing their hands wondering how to get the numbers to keep Jonathan and have a chance to gain control in the game. Jonathan was continuing to work Lisa to have her and Skulpin jump ship. Lisa and Skulpin were seriously weighing their options as to whether staying with their Tandang alliance or going on to Kalabaw would be in their best interest.

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst and the Castaways spoke about how Lisa was treated after their last Tribal Council. They also spoke about their individual safety. The only one that admitted to feeling safe was Skulpin due to the Immuniy necklace hanging around his neck. Abi also belittled Lisa during their discussion, and Lisa, frustrated with Abi’s comments,stated this was an example of how her alliance treated her and how she didn’t like it.

The vote was a close one, Readers! It was between Jonathan and Artis. In the end, Jeff Probst had to douse Artis’ torch, ending his chances at winning Survivor: Philippines.

Well, Readers, it looks like the tables have been turned, again, on Survivor: Philippines.. Maybe the remainder of the Tandang alliance shouldn’t have taken Lisa and Skulpin for granted like they did. It’s too bad that it was Artis who was the casualty and not Abi, you know, who was the one that ultimately caused all of this to happen. What will the fallout be because of Lisa and Skulpin jumping ship? Will Abi have learned her lesson to keep her opinions to herself? Who will win Immunity and who will be the next Castaway to be voted out on Survivor: Philippines? Come back and check out my next Survivor post to find out.

Survivor: Philippines, Episode #4 – Who Can You Really Trust

Hey Readers!

Are you ready for another episode of Survivor: Philippines.  Last week, Matsing lost another Immunity/Reward Challenge, forcing them to send pagent girl, Angie, off the show. Besides the age struggle, this episode also brought about the question all reality-based game shows ask: Who can you really trust? Some of the Castaways are slowly beginning to realize who these people, and for one Castaway, not having the trust of anyone on their tribe causes their downfall.

Matsing returned from the last Tribal Council cold, depressed and short one person. Wait a minute, doesn’t this sound like a rerun of the past few weeks?  Russell, Malcolm and Denise all believed that what Matsing needs in order to get back on track in this game is to have a few wins under their belts and to make it to the Merge.

Russell also began running his mouth around camp, again.  This annoyed Malcolm, and said the only reason why Russell was still in the game was because he and Denise chose to keep him for his athletic ability or his knowledge or prior Survivor experience.  Russell also became suspicious of Denise and Malcolm over the amount of time they spent talking to each other, and was wondering how much out of the loop he really was within his tribe.

Denise felt as though she could no longer fully trust Russell, either.  She saw Russell looking around their camp and assumed he was looking for the Idol.  Russell then tried covering up his suspicious actions.  Denise brought this information to Malcolm’s attention. They thought Russell had the Idol, and that they may have to smoke it out.

At Tandang, Pete wanted to stir up some chaos between Abi and RC to completely sever the bond that joined them. He saw the clue that he and Abi used to find the Immunity Idol, and put it in RC’s bag to make it look as though RC took it.  Pete’s plan worked.  Abi was furious with RC, and shared her anger with the rest of their tribe. 

At Kalabaw, Jeff and Jonathan were both keeping each other close until one can strike against the other.  Carter, a younger member of the tribe, wanted to start working with Jeff and Jonathan in order to form an all-male alliance to knock off the women when the time comes to do so.  Don’t worry, Readers, the women of Kabalaw thought that the men would try to eliminate them, so they are starting to preparing for whatever the men have in store for them.

At the Immunity/Reward Challenge, each member participating had to carry two pots of rice through various obsticles. Then one member must smash all of these pots with a wrecking ball.  Here is a break-down of the Rewards:
First – Steak, veggies, spices for fabulous celebratory dinner, along with Immunity;
Second – Veggies, spices for an okay dinner, along with Immunity;
Last – As usual, Tribal Council.
Jeff Probst also mentioned that either of the winning tribes were able to trade their Reward in for a tarp to keep them dry at their tribe.

This is how the Challenge turned out:
First – Tandang
Second – Kalabaw
Last – Matsing.
Kalabaw traded their so-so dinner for a much needed tarp.  Out of frustration, Russell freaked out, again, asking God why his tribe always lost Challenges.  Jeff Probst was trying to reason with Russell, but it didn’t work.

After the Challenge, the members of Matsing were depressed over their loss, as well as trying to figure out who they could trust.  They were weighing the pros and cons of why to keep one person over another, and they gave each other the “I will take you” speech.  As you can tell, no one felt safe going to Tribal Council.

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst got Matsing to talk about who they thought should stay in the tribe and why.  They also talked about Malcolm loosing the Challenge for Matsing, as well as Russell’s actions after the Challenge.  After falsly flattering each other, the tribe made their decision, making Russell the next casualty of Survivior: Philippines.

I have a feeling that the Castaways are beginning to realize they shouldn’t really trust anyone in the game of Survivor.  The only things that can get them through this game are your initial instincts and a lot of luck.  Russell wasn’t so fortunate to have the use of any of these things this time around, and that’s why he’s no longer in the game.  Well, that, and he had an over inflated sense of himself.  If you want to find out who the next Castaway sent packing will be, come back to my blog to see what happened!
