Mundane Monday Morning Music: The Black Eyed Peas – ”I Gotta Feeling”

Hey Readers!

I know, I took another week off! My life has been a bit hectic, and I needed a bit of a break. I had to come back this week for this feature because it is one of my favourite weeks of the year. It’s the last week of summer vacation! This is the last unofficial week of summer where families can have fun and get away without having to celebrate a holiday, or for people to have fun before the weather starts to turn and school starts.

Since this is the last week of fun before schedules start to shift, I always have to share a party song that also to help say goodbye to the summer. This week’s MMMM pick to signal the end of summer is The Black Eyed Peas’ ”I Gotta Feeling.” This song is such a fun song to get going in the morning or to hang out with your friends with while relaxing at a barbecue. it’s all about having fun and getting ready to have fun. It focuses on the here and now, enjoying the moment, and not worrying about what tomorrow brings, whether it be work, school or the end of the summer.

I hope that you are able to be in the moment, lift your glass and have some fun for the rest of this summer with ”I Gotta Feeling” on this mundane Monday morning!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: The Birthday Edition

Morning Readers!

As spring is now upon us and the Easter Weekend comes to an end, I am so happy that I am getting to start to celebrate my birthday this week! I like doing little things over the next week to make my birthday feel that much more fun and special.

Reese Speaks Birthday Pic 2

For this week’s MMMM, I decided to choose a few of my fav B-Day songs that are fun and will start off this week in an awesome way!

I love the Beatles, and the “Birthday” song from The Beatles or “The White Album” is a fun one to listen to!

For more of a chair-dancing experience, I added Katy Perry’s “Birthday” song. Who would not want to be treated like every day is your birthday?!

Of course, being the HUGE Stevie Wonder fan I am, I HAD to had his version of “Happy Birthday” on this list of birthday songs!” A birthday is not a birthday for me listening to it about 40 times on repeat! 😛

It will be a fun week, and I can’t wait until the big day arrives and all of the surprises that are in store for me. These songs are certainly putting me into the birthday spirit!

I hope that these songs make your day a little bit brighter and make you smile today!

What is your favourite version of “The Birthday Song” to hear on your special day?

Until my next post, Readers!

Make the Holidays Bright with Treats from Purdys Chocolatier!

Yes, Christmas is over, but that doesn’t mean that the holiday season has ended! My family and I are continuing to enjoy the Christmas Collection we received from Purdys Chocolatier! This collection of chocolate was a sweet surprise, as this was an extra package of treats they sent me to wish my family well this Christmas season. In this collection, we received the following:
• Gingerbread Chocolates
• Peppermint Bark
• Winter Cardinal Tin
• The Chocolatier Collection

PXFeature-A

Since my kids like eating gingerbread cookies, it was only fitting to try the Gingerbread Chocolates first! After taking a bit inside, it was like eating a gingerbread cookie and Purdys’ chocolate at the same time! There were also little pieces of pastry flake scattered throughout each chocolate piece to add to the crunchiness of this treat, and the cocoa butter design of cute little gingerbread men made these chocolates even more fun to eat!

Gingerbread Collage

One of the best non-chocolate treats I have ever tasted from Purdy’s has to be their Peppermint Bark! Readers, these pieces of crushed candy canes that have been encased in a white bark, then topped off with dark chocolate are amazing! These minty treats really put you in the holiday spirit, and made me have nostalgic thoughts of my childhood and the warm feelings I had back then at Christmas. The Peppermint Bark did not last as long as I would have liked as they were a huge hit with all of us!

We also enjoyed the Winter Cardinal Tin with an assortment of chocolates to taste. We decided to eat some of the chocolates we have never tasted before. My eldest and I shared the Lemon Cream and it was delicious! The rich Purdy’s milk chocolate encased a tangy lemon cream that was light and smooth. We also tried a chocolate that was somewhat similar to a Snowball, but instead of a cream filling, it was filled with soft coconut. It was a great chocolate to eat!

My family and I finally made it to the Chocolatier Collection, where any chocolate lover would be satisfied with the assortment of chocolates available to them! Within this collection, there are milk chocolate and dark chocolate versions of Purdy’s Haystacks and Himalayan Pink Salt Caramels, as well as their Turona, and Petit Chocolat. To finish off this assortment of chocolate, there were two dark chocolate barks with pistachios, hazelnuts and sour cherries! We all have a great time eating our favourite chocolates and tasting the dark chocolate bark!

Assorted Box Collage

We loved the assortment of products we received from Purdys’ Christmas Collection! There were both favourites we have enjoyed from past collections, as well as new chocolates and treats we savoured! I hope that you are enjoying this holiday season, and if you need any gift ideas for a party you are going to, or for a late Christmas gift, that one of these products will fit the bill! You can check out their complete collection on their website!

Until my next post, Readers!

Christmas Hit List: Brenda Lee – “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”

Hey There, Readers!

We are almost there! The organized person that I am is still running around, getting more baking supplies and other things just to make sure we do not have to go find an open store on Christmas Day.  The “Bosses” are pleased with this because they get to go zooming about with me at Mach 10 speed!

I had to replay this song from last year on my Christmas Hit List! It is a favourite of many, and I’m sure you have heard it many times at Christmas parties or while you’re having fun at home, but it’s such a fun song that you could hear it again and again. Today’s pick is Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” So many memories come to mind whenever I hear this song! The “Bosses” even approve of this one, dancing and singing along as I play it from then while I’m typing this post (I’ve hit replay about four times by now)!

I hope you’re rockin’ around something right now while you listen to this song, and that it also helps you get into the mood of the season!

Until my next post, Readers!

Mundane Monday Morning Music: Earth, Wind & Fire – September

Mornin’ Readers!

It is the unofficial end of summer.  I am sad that it is all but over, but I’m happy that today is Labour Day! It’s an extra day to lounge about and have some fun before the work week, and the new school year begins!

Since it is the first of September, it is only fitting that I play “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire for this week’s MMMM pick! For some parents, it is also a song to celebrate their kids going back to school. I know , I usually like to have a more mellow tune for long weekend Monday mornings, but today just didn’t have that laid back feel to for me! It’s also a great song for today because this song is also about reflecting back to good times, and I certainly have a lot of good memories of this summer that has flown by!

I hope that “September” helps you look back on this summer, and helps you to cap of this amazing long weekend!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Visit from the Easter Bunny

Hiya Readers!

It was our first Easter in our new home, so we couldn’t wait for the Easter Bunny to visit us and hide all of his sugary treats around our home. The past few years, my family has been in small apartments, so the hunt for Easter eggs was easy for our kids. This year, the Easter Bunny had three floors to leave presents for our kids, so we hoped it would be more fun and challenging for them!

I swear I closed my eyes for only a moment only to find pastel egg capsules all over our home! They were up high for our eldest, and in lower places for our younger two.

It took our little ones a while to find this one!

We even found some eggs in some funny and unusual places!

The Easter Bunny sure has a sense of humour!

The Easter Bunny even left a basket of treats for our kids on our dining table since they were too big and bulky to hide.

The chocolate tool set was my favourite of the three!

When our kids awoke on Easter morning, our younger daughter came downstairs with two eggs in her hands! Once our other two kids heard all of the commotion, they sprang out of their beds so they didn’t miss out on all of the Easter egg hunting fun.

Many breaks were taken as the kids became distracted by all of the chocolate and candy they were finding and eating along the way.

As you can see, our little guy couldn't wait to devour his new found loot!

Overall, this year’s visit from the Easter Bunny was a success! By now, most of the eggs have been found (our eldest found two yesterday evening, and I think one or two are still floating around our house), and wave of sugar shock has come and gone, for now anyway! Hopefully, the Easter Bunny will be able to extend his hunt outside as it was too wet in our front and backyards for our kids to hunt for them there. Maybe I’ll even get a picture of the big guy next year…

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Christmas Holidays Wrap-Up, 2013

Hey Readers!

I am so sad to see the Christmas holidays go by so quickly this past year.  I love that time of year.  Snow everywhere, lights decorating homes,  trees sprinkled with all kinds of ornaments, and people celebrating the season in so many different ways.

For my family, this was the first Christmas where my youngest two children, age two and one, were going to get to really have fun with the season now that they can both walk, eat and rip presents open pretty much on their own.  I wanted to share some of the fun we had this holiday season with you, Readers!

Christmas Eve There's my little girl watching Google's Santa tracker as he was getting closer to our house. Those were the snacks we left out for the Big Guy to thank him for leaving us gifts! I have to thank my friend, Sandy, for the great shortbread cookie recipe!

Merry Christmas! Santa did indeed visit our house! You can tell by all of the gifts under the tree (our tree is half decorated because our kids like playing with the decorations), and by all of the eaten treats! There are my little ones opening up their stockings and gifts after breakfast. It was a crazy day!

New Year's Eve Well, it was a fun New Year's Eve had at my house, even though my eldest daughter and I were the only ones who made it to midnight! To celebrate the occasion, my eldest and I tried out a new vanilla cake recipe to make cupcakes. MY boyfriend/partner person took our Christmas tree out of its misery by relieving it of its duties a few hours early. Those needles were just a fraction of what fell off over the past few weeks since we had it up. Those were the headbands my eldest and I wore to get ourselves in the spirit of NYE, along with our outfits! Those pics were taken just minutes before midnight.

New Year’s Eve Pick: Prince – 1999

Hey Readers!

It’s the end of another year!  I love New Year’s Eve because, no matter what I’m going for the night, I know I’ll be having fun with friends and close family, reminiscing about all of the goings-on of the year that has just gone by.

I thought that Price’s song 1999 would be an appropriate song to get everyone ready to greet 2014 this morning, and I’ll be listening to this song tonight as well!

Take care, Readers!  Have fun tonight!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Thanksgiving in Canada’s Captial

Hey Readers!

For those of you that didn’t know, I’m Canadian.  For us Canadians, it was our Thanksgiving weekend.  I had my mom, one of my nieces and one of my nephews come to visit me in the Capital (Ottawa) to celebrate.  Here are some pics showing what this Thanksgiving was like for me this year!

My eldest daughter and I started the day off with a late morning bike ride.  Since we gave her a new bike for her birthday, the two of us decided to let her break it in.  We rode along the Rideau Canal Western Pathway.

Rideau Canal Western Pathway, Ottawa, ON

It is so pretty all-year round, so I couldn’t help but to take pics during our ride.  We passed certain stops such as Brown’s Inlet

These ducks met us at our first of many stops along our bike ride that morning.

After our ride, I then turned around, and took the kids outside for a while so my mom and my boyfriend/partner could get some time to cook and some peace and quiet.

To give my mom and our chef (my boyfriend/partner) a break from a house full of kids, I took them out for a long walk to try and tucker them out. It was one of the quietest evenings all weekend!

Since I didn’t take them out long enough, we went over to one of the many parks in my area to try and burn even more of their energy.

I know, another tree pic! It was at the park, and it towers over everything!

Took the troops to the park after the park, but before out Thanksgiving feast. I loved this patch of leaves and seeds on the ground.

Then we finally got to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner!  Let me tell you, Readers, my man can cook!  Everything was so good!  Thanks, Chef Boyfriend/Partner!

Well, Readers, that was Thanksgiving, 2013 at the Reese Residence in Canada’s capital!  It was fun and delicious, and it was good to see a part of my family for a few days.  Can’t wait to go home to Toronto and do all of this there!

Until my next post, Readers!
